The Natrona County Fire District (NCFD) came into existence through a special election in the fall of 1992 and was formed January 1993.
The Natrona County Fire District provides emergency services for a response area that is unique and includes:
- 5,376 square miles (5,340 square miles is land and 35 square miles is water)
- General Industry and Businesses
- Oil and Gas Refineries and Production Sites
- Pipelines, Rail Systems and Storage Facilities
- Chemical Production and Experimentation Sites
- Residential Subdivisions and Rural Ranches
- Significant Wildland Urban Interface Areas
- Natrona County International Airport
- Two Hydroelectric Dams
