Conditions and Updates

Nordic Trails Conditions Update for November 7, 2018

  • Early snow conditions exist on Casper Mountain.
  • First packing run took place on Monday on 5-6 inches of wet, dense new snow and remnants of previous storms.  Additional grooming took place on Wednesday with an additional 2 inches of new snow.  Base depth is 1-3 inches.
  • Strube Loop and portions of the Maze are open.  All other trails are closed so please stay off them.  The stadium portion of the Maze and portions of the Lights Area on the east side are decent but the rest of the Maze has vegetation sticking through the snow.
  • Rock skis are recommended.
  • This Conditions and Updates page will only be updated when there is a significant change such as a measurable snow event.  Please consider the conditions similar to previous updates if unchanged.
  • If you are interested in seeing what current conditions are, there are two new web cameras at the Nordic Trails Lodge.  Go to the Natrona County website under webcamera at or
  • As a reminder, please be considerate of others. The mountain trails are used by Nordic skiers, snow shoes, fat-tire bikers, etc. Please respect each other and it will be a great season.
  • Please stay off of the Nordic ski tracks if you are walking or riding bikes as the additional holes/tracks make it very hard to maintain ski trails. Please snowshoe or ride to the side of the ski track. Please keep pets off groomed trails.
  • Ski passes are required for all that use the mountain trail system. Funds generated from ski pass sales go to maintaining and grooming trails. Passes can be purchased at Mountain Sports, Zeelo's, 42 Degrees North and Natrona County Roads, Bridges and Parks office in Mills.
